Toptots Westville is part of the Toptots Parent & Child Workshop network, offering carefully designed early childhood development classes for babies and young children from 6 weeks to 4 years.

Founded in 1994, Toptots was created to give parents and caregivers an opportunity to spend meaningful, focused time with their little ones while supporting their development through purposeful play. Our age-specific programmes are designed around the developmental needs of each stage, supporting cognitive, emotional, social and physical development in a fun and nurturing environment.

Toptots Westville is owned and run by Yasmin Essop, who has been part of the Toptots family since 2020 and took ownership of the Westville branch in 2021. A mom to a young son, Yasmin is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Calm, softly spoken and caring, Yasmin brings an incredible amount of thought and attention to the way her Toptots classes are presented. She is very hands on with her branch and works closely with her teachers, personally guiding and supporting them to ensure that families receive the Toptots experience she expects for every parent and child.

Yasmin personally teaches the Saturday classes at her Cowies Hill Park studio, while trained Toptots teacher Farzana leads the weekday programme.

Toptots Westville also offers a small Saturday morning baby group at Cygnet Pre-Primary School, led by teacher, Zaheeda. This gives families another opportunity to experience the Toptots baby programme in the Westville area.

The main Toptots Westville studio is situated at Yasmin's home in Cowies Hill Park, where she has created a beautiful, dedicated Toptots space with access to a lovely garden and play areas. Particular care goes into the sensory and messy play experiences, with thoughtfully prepared activities designed to encourage exploration, discovery and plenty of hands-on fun.

Classes include a variety of age appropriate activities incorporating sensory and messy play, music, movement, fine and gross motor activities, perceptual development and creative exploration. Parents and caregivers are also given practical ideas and guidance that they can take home and continue using with their children between classes.

More than simply keeping little hands busy, every Toptots activity has a purpose. Through play, interaction and quality one on one time, we aim to support each child's development while strengthening the connection between parent and child.
