Toptots Houghton is part of the Toptots Parent & Child Workshop network, offering carefully designed early childhood development classes for babies and young children from 6 weeks to 4 years.

Founded in 1994, Toptots was created to give parents and caregivers an opportunity to spend meaningful, focused time with their little ones while supporting their development through purposeful play. Our age-specific programmes are designed around the developmental needs of each stage, supporting cognitive, emotional, social and physical development in a fun and nurturing environment.

Toptots Houghton is owned and run by Fatima Patel, who joined the Toptots family in 2021. A qualified occupational therapist with her own practice, Fatima brings valuable professional knowledge of child development to her Toptots branch. She is also a mom to two young children herself, giving her a personal understanding of the joys and challenges that come with these early years.

Warm, soft spoken and caring, Fatima has a lovely way with both children and their parents. Her occupational therapy background complements the Toptots programme beautifully, allowing her to bring her knowledge and understanding of children's development into the supportive and playful environment of her classes.

Fatima is also supported by Pakeezah, a newly trained Toptots teacher who assists with and teaches classes under Fatima's guidance. Together they aim to provide a warm and welcoming environment where parents, caregivers and little ones can learn, play and grow together.

Classes include a variety of age appropriate activities incorporating sensory and messy play, music, movement, fine and gross motor activities, perceptual development and creative exploration. Parents and caregivers are also given practical ideas and guidance that they can take home and continue using with their children between classes.

More than simply keeping little hands busy, every Toptots activity has a purpose. Through play, interaction and quality one on one time, we aim to support each child's development while strengthening the connection between parent and child.
