About Us
Dr Claire Cullen is a paediatric ophthalmologist and founder of Kids Eyes, a specialist practice dedicated to children's eye care from birth through to adolescence.
After qualifying as an ophthalmologist in 2010, Dr Claire completed advanced microsurgical training before undertaking an international fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the IWK Children's Hospital in Canada. She has a special interest in childhood eye conditions, amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus, myopia management, and paediatric eye surgery.
She serves on the executive committee of the South African Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and is a member of the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Alongside her private practice, she remains actively involved in teaching, community outreach, and a weekly paediatric eye clinic at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital.
Dr Claire is passionate about making specialist eye care accessible and understandable for families. Through her educational content, online resources, and parent programmes, she empowers parents with practical, evidence-based guidance while providing compassionate, family-centred care. Her mission is to help every child achieve the best possible vision and ensure that no parent feels alone on their child's eye care journey.
