Chrysalis School & Developmental Centre is a specialised private Centre in Lynnwood, Pretoria East, offering an integrated stimulation and therapeutic programme for children with special needs aged 3 to 18 years. Established in 2008, Chrysalis was founded to provide a nurturing, structured environment where children with developmental delays and physical disabilities can access both a quality stimulation programme and essential therapeutic support under one roof.
The Centre caters to a wide range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, genetic syndromes, and global developmental delays. With a strong focus on unlocking each child’s potential, Chrysalis follows a uniquely adapted stimulation programme tailored to individual developmental levels rather than age, ensuring meaningful progress for every learner.
Holistic Learning & Therapy Approach
Chrysalis stands out for its multidisciplinary, therapy-integrated model, combining a stimulation programme with daily therapeutic intervention:
Speech, music, and play therapy (included in group programmes)
Optional services such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, play therapy, orthotics and dietetics
Small group sizes for personalised attention
Development-based group placement for optimal support
Chrysalis offers a Junior Phase, an Intermediate Phase and a Senior Phase, with progression based on developmental readiness.

On-site extra-mural activities such as Equestrian therapy (horse-riding) and Tumbling Tigerz (gross motor development)

Admissions & Application Process
Chrysalis follows a flexible, child-centred admissions approach:
Initial enquiry or Centre visit (walk-ins welcome, no appointment required)
Informal placement period, where the child attends for observation (typically 2–3 weeks)
Final placement discussion with parents based on the child’s needs
Chrysalis does not require formal assessments upfront, focusing instead on real-time observation and collaboration with families to determine the best fit.
