I always knew I had a bigger purpose and higher calling for my life. For many years I had a dream and deep desire to make a difference in the lives of children. This is how it started...
In 2016 I started having dreams about a lot of children around me. In my dreams I would stop at a place that is filled with children laughing and playing and making music, and I would tell my husband that I wanted to have a place like that, filled with children's laughter.
I then I received a prophesy from our small group leader saying: "I see you at the top of a tower, with children at your feet. They are not your own children, and God says you are going to raise leaders."
Our entire family then started volunteering at a Place of Safety in our area. We volunteered there for 3 years. During this time, the place of safety owner, kept on saying that we should open Rock of Joy. I never knew that it was the purpose God had for my life. I then also received three confirmations for three different people saying: "God says open your ears and hear what He is saying to you."
With a lot of prayer, help and support from my loving husband, Braam, my dream became OUR dream. Both my husband and I had the same vision and made ourselves available as a Place of Safety parents. Soon after our house was registered, we received our first child, a beautiful little baby girl.
Thus, our journey continues, and numerous other children have been placed with us. We feel that if we can show them in whatever short period of time which they are with us, that the world out there has some good left in it, then we have succeeded in making a difference.
Our mission is to provide a secure, happy home environment for babies and toddlers in crisis. To provide proper care for HIV infected babies and toddlers. To provide and overnight shelter for children removed from their parents or found abandoned by the SAPS. To provide loving care to children until they can be placed with other Place of Safety parents, foster parents, adoptive parents or reunited with their own families.
A lot of tears have been shed both in happiness and sadness as well as frustration sometimes, but it remains worth it to see our little angels smile for the first time or see the difference that was made in a child's life. God has always remained faithful, and I know He will continue to do so.
