Life Child International Trust

Life Child exist to reach orphan and vulnerable children and restore communities for generational change: One life at a time.

Life Child is impacting children, families, communities and nations creating sustainability through our four focus areas: Education, Health and Nutrition, Social and Spiritual Development.

Life Child South Africa is currently operating in the semi-formal community of Samora Machel as well as the neighbouring shack community of Kosovo. Kosovo has been identified as one of the most densely populated and impoverished communities in the Western Cape.  What began out a decade ago as a local Church partnership with Samora Machel’s informal Early Child Development’s had blossomed into a multi-faceted program to serve orphan and vulnerable children and their caregivers. In 2015, after several years supporting and learning alongside other ECD’s, Life Child opened its own Centre to focus on serving the most vulnerable children in the community through a holistic, no cost preschool education. The centre also includes long-term foster care.

In 2018, we began enrolling families in our strengthening program to help us address some factors contributing to vulnerability outside of the classroom.

At the request of the Department of Social Development, Life Child is registered as a cluster foster scheme with multiple foster homes to help meet the need for additional long-term foster care services in the community.
